About Greg

Greg Birdwell is a highly accomplished classical cellist residing in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex in Texas. Known for his exquisite performances and versatile musical talent, Greg is sought after for solo recitals, chamber music collaborations, orchestral ensembles, weddings, and other special events. With an impressive educational background and a rich orchestral career spanning over two decades, he has established himself as a prominent figure in the music scene.

Greg’s journey into the world of music began under the tutelage of the esteemed Helena Bell, a renowned cellist associated with the Omaha Symphony. He honed his skills further under the guidance of Joe Shufro at Morningside College and Scott Kluksdahl at the University of South Florida, acquiring a deep understanding of the cello’s expressive potential and refining his technical prowess.

Currently, Greg is an esteemed member of several Dallas-Fort Worth orchestral groups, showcasing his talent and dedication to his craft. He is a member of the Allen Philharmonic Orchestra, Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra, Millennial Choirs & Orchestra, New Life Symphony Orchestra, and the Dallas Unity String Orchestra. Over the years, Greg has had the privilege of performing with several other orchestras, including a 21-year tenure with the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra. Other orchestras Greg has had the honor of performing with are the Bemidji Symphony Orchestra, Dakota Valley Symphony, Itasca Orchestra, La Crosse Symphony, Mankato Symphony, Saint Cloud Symphony, and Sioux City Symphony. Additionally, he served as the principal cellist in both the Morningside Orchestra and the USF Orchestra, assuming a leadership role and lending his musical expertise to create harmonious symphonic experiences.
